Over the years agribusiness has had such a great impact in curbing unemployment but still remains a less than popular choice of earning an income amongst the youth, particularly the millennials. For our nascent agricultural industry to optimally benefit the youth, greater emphasis should be put on demystifying the notion that agribusiness is not prestigious enough and information regarding this field should be easily available. Access to the right information and the ability for the youth to seek, receive, impart and share ideas will have an impact on the fundamentals of choosing the right path in agribusiness. Digital Africa Foundation focuses on ensuring that the youth are able to be successful farmers by focusing on the successful agriculture ecosystem.
Creating awareness is the first step in ensuring that the youth see an opportunity of earning an income in Agribusiness. Through the Jibambe na Agribusiness Campaign, DAF works with youth influencers in order to create a data base of the youths that are interested in Agriculture. These youths are then be taken through training where they acquire skills and are mentored by experienced young farmers. Once they select an area they are interested in specializing in (e.g production, supplies, transport, marketing etc) they are then empowered so that they may access the resources they require in order to begin.
